A New Place for Support in Alabama
The Corina Mae Foundation is proud to announce the launch of our weekly Alabama Disability Support Group, created to give disabled Alabamians a safe, welcoming place to connect, share, and be heard.
For too long, disabled people across our state have been left without community, without support, and without a space where their experiences are understood. This group is our first step toward changing that. We are building a place where people can show up exactly as they are — without judgment, without pressure, and without needing to “prove” their disability or situation.
This support group is open to all disabled residents of Alabama, including those living with chronic illness, mental health conditions, mobility challenges, neurodivergence, sensory disabilities, and invisible disabilities. Whether you’re navigating the system, dealing with isolation, or simply needing a space where people get it, you belong here.
Why We’re Starting This Group:
Alabama has one of the highest disability rates in the country, yet one of the lowest levels of accessible support. Many people face:
- Transportation barriers
- Rural isolation
- Limited access to services
- Stigma and misunderstanding
- Difficulty finding community
Our support group is designed to remove those barriers. Meetings are held virtually, so anyone in Alabama can join — whether you’re in a rural county, living on a fixed income, or unable to travel.
This group is a place to:
- Share what you’re going through
- Connect with others who understand
- Learn about resources
- Feel less alone
- Build community
- Support one another
This is the heart of our mission: creating safe spaces where disabled Alabamians can find connection, dignity, and support.
When We Meet:
Our support group meets every Wednesday evening, with additional Saturday sessions planned as attendance grows. Meetings are held virtually to ensure accessibility for everyone.
RSVP is required so we can maintain a safe and supportive environment for all participants.
Only Alabama residents are eligible to join
How to Join:
To attend, simply fill out our RSVP form.
Alabama ZIP codes are required to confirm residency.

A Message From the Founder:
Starting this support group is deeply personal. The Corina Mae Foundation was created to address the gaps, the silence, and the isolation that disabled people in Alabama face every day. This group is the beginning of something bigger — a community built on compassion, understanding, and shared experience.
If you’ve been looking for a place where you don’t have to explain yourself, where people understand disability because they live it too, this group is for you.
You are welcome here.
You are valued here.
You are not alone.
