“This month we started building…”

This month, we started building the foundation of what The Corina Mae Foundation will become. Not just the structure of a nonprofit — but the heart, the clarity, and the purpose behind it. As we enter the last week of May, I wanted to share the progress we’ve made and the steps that are helping shape our future.

🌱 Laying the Groundwork

This month we started building the core pieces that will support everything we do moving forward. We refined our mission language, strengthened our story, and made sure the heart behind this foundation — my mother’s legacy — is honored in every detail.

🌐 Strengthening Our Online Presence

We continued developing our website to make it more welcoming, accessible, and informative. This included updating our contact email, improving the layout, and preparing space for future resources, updates, and community support.

📚 Beginning Our Statewide Resource Project

This month we began building the Alabama county‑by‑county disability resource library. It’s a big project, but an important one. Each county added brings us closer to creating a clear, easy‑to‑navigate resource system for disabled individuals and families across the state.

👥 Beginning Our Board of Directors Search

This month we also started looking for Board of Director volunteers — compassionate, committed individuals who believe in our mission and want to help guide the future of the foundation. While we haven’t found the right people yet, we’re continuing our search with patience and purpose. Building the right leadership team takes time, and we’re committed to finding individuals who truly align with our values and vision.

📬 Establishing Clear Communication

We finalized our official foundation email and response guidelines. Even without a phone number yet, we now have a reliable, professional way for people to reach us. Setting these expectations early helps build trust and ensures that anyone who contacts us knows what to expect.

💛 Staying Rooted in the Heart of Our Mission

As June approaches — the month where it will be 5 years and 6 months since my mother’s passing — I’ve been reflecting deeply. That date falls the day before my birthday, and it has reshaped what this time of year means to me. It’s no longer just a birthday. It’s a moment of remembrance, gratitude, and honoring the woman whose strength made my life possible.

🌟 Looking Ahead

Next month, we’ll begin reaching out to organizations across Alabama to introduce who we are and explore future partnerships. For now, we’re ending May with momentum, clarity, and a growing sense of purpose.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us, encouraged us, or simply taken the time to learn who we are. Your support means more than you know.

Together, we’re building something rooted in love, dignity, and hope.
